I can remember my mum telling me to let go of my joystick and go outside and play 'normally' with other people my age  - I kept telling her that 30 year olds tend not to play outside anymore, but she had moved on by then - and even though I could see her point I always wished that there was some way to combine the two.

Well, apparently there is. Some industrious gamers/vandals have created their own "building-sized" game of Tetris with which to amuse themselves.

Of course, it probably only amused them for ten minutes, but I am sure it was worth it.

Oh my, it is too late for Christmas but I think I have found the present for the Rain Man in all of us, an R2 D2 shaped something! Really, that should be all the information you need, after all this is an IT blog, but let me tell you a bit more. 

Unfortunately I can’t get the site to open properly, a bit like R2 when Luke was trying to get him to show the er, blue movie hologram of Princess Leia, so you will have to take my word for a lot of this. Having had a click around, and a bit of a squint at the text I am pretty certain that it is the nerdiest web cam, USB phone, lightsabre sound generating device that I have ever seen. Mind you, I don’t really look at too many.   

As a companion to the R2-D2 C.S (Communication System), the manufacturer - Nikko Home Electronics - also offers savvy purchasers (read, single men)  the R2-D2 M.E.S.

M.E.S is the single most geeky media player I have ever seen, boasting as it does a DVD projector with an iPod dock, memory card slots and, er, a shape similar to that of a film-based twirpy robot git. Buy it while you are single. You’ll never get away with it otherwise.
